🙏 Sacred Anuradhapura🙏

We decided to visit Anuradhapura many years ago. There we proposed to visit the Atamasthana which is worshiped at the pooja.Ruwanweli Maha Seya, Thuparamaya Chaitya, Jayasiri Maha Bodhi, Mirisawetiya, Jethavanaramaya, Abhayagiriya, Lankaramaya and Lowamahapaya are known as Atamasthana. The Ruwanweli Stupa can be introduced as one of the places of worship where we worship.
It is considered to be the most important dagoba in Anuradhapura today. This is also considered to be the dagoba where the largest number of sacred relics are kept. Our history tells us that the stupa, which was about 370 feet in diameter, was dug seven cubits deep, and the foundations were laid with stones, and the elephants were trampled underfoot with soft clay and iron nets. The relic chamber is made of six stone slabs. Ruwanweli Seya was the third religious creation of King Dutugemunu.
The foundation stone was laid on a full moon day on the 15th of Vesak and the work was completed as the largest dagoba in Sri Lanka at that time. Sources such as the Thupavansa state that the sacred relics are kept in a drona and that the Five Hundred and Fifty Jatakas and various occasions in the Buddhist tradition represent the meaning of the golden leaf. The circumference of Ruwanweliseya is 942 feet.
